"Hong Kong singer-composer Heidi Li’s music and Kishore Acharya’s sound design are evocative.” Meenakshi Shedde
As a composer, my passion lies in blending cultural influences to create soundscapes that elevate storytelling. My musical journey began in Hong Kong, where early exposure to Yuequ (Cantonese Opera) sparked a deep passion for integrating Eastern and Western musical elements.
This journey has taken me across Canada, the UK, France, and Italy, where I embraced jazz and improvisation, particularly during my studies at Siena Jazz University. There, I began integrating Cantonese Opera into jazz—a fusion I hope will become a hallmark of my compositions.
In 2023, I ventured into film composition, crafting the soundtrack for Nepali director Nabin Subba’s 'A Road to a Village,' which premiered at TIFF. This project opened a new avenue for me to express my multicultural influences through film music.
As I continue to grow as a film composer, I am eager to collaborate with filmmakers seeking a distinct, culturally infused musical voice. My goal is to bring a fresh, multicultural perspective to film scores, creating soundscapes that transcend cultural boundaries, enrich the narrative journey, and serve the directors' artistic visions.
