Is this you?
You love singing and would like to explore jazz, but don’t know where to start.
You can sing the melody, but want to go beyond simply getting the notes “right”.
You’re curious about phrasing, interpretation and improvisation.
You’re looking for a structured yet friendly learning environment.
You want to grow as a singer and develop your own musical voice.
You do not need previous jazz or scat experience.
Basic singing experience is helpful, but you do not need to read music or know advanced music theory.
What You’ll Leave With
By the end of the course, you should have:
one jazz standard you understand in depth
more freedom with rhythm and phrasing
practical tools for interpreting lyrics and melody
a clearer understanding of how jazz singers develop their own versions of songs
your first practical approaches to improvisation
a step-by-step process you can use when learning future jazz standards
The goal is not to teach you one “correct” way to sing the song.
The goal is to help you start making your own musical decisions.

About Your Teacher
I’m Heidi Li, a Hong Kong-born jazz vocalist, composer and educator based in Italy.
I trained in jazz vocal performance at Siena Jazz University and have performed and taught internationally across Europe and Asia.
My musical background spans jazz and Cantonese opera, and my teaching focuses not only on vocal technique, but also on the skills that help singers become more independent musicians: rhythm, listening, interpretation, improvisation and musicality.
Over the years, I’ve taught singers of different levels through private lessons, workshops and group courses.
Step by Step Jazz Singing grew from a simple idea: jazz singing becomes much less intimidating when we break the process down and explore it one step at a time.
